Welcome back team, and hellloooooo 2024! Our wish for you this year is that you are able to take action towards your goals and create a more successful and prosperous reality than ever before. Cheers to the New Year…let’s take this bull by the horns!

If you are anything like us and have your finger on the trend pulse at all times, you have seen the holiday season’s biggest trend where users shared their lists of 2024 “ins and outs.”

As Social Media Marketers, we’re all too familiar with the changing landscape. Whether it be the new app developments, strategy changes, data intake adjustments or simple aesthetic swaps, we’re locked in.

Starting off with what we will be focusing on for our clients because of what we have seen first hand:

2024 INS:

  • Collabs with niche influencers: For most people, when they think of influencer marketing, they picture a 20-30 year old girl who is head to toe aesthetic. However, there is far more under the surface of the influencer marketing genre, and you are better suited by tapping into your niche industry and finding leaders or pillars of the community. For example: realtor influencers, mommy vloggers, dentists, haircare gurus, fitness influencers etc.

  • Community specific strategies: Instead of simply posting story updates barraging your following with info, consider creating broadcast channels to create a new offer or benefit. For example, as an injector you could use this channel to offer member exclusive benefits and discounts!

  • Targeted hashtag strategy: We still see people missing the boat on this one…hashtags are crucial! They are a way for the algorithm to categorize your content, and without careful consideration into your hashtag curation your content may be spread too broadly, not giving value or context for the algorithm to recognize. A few we still see…for no reason…. #summervibes #winning #slayallday. Our fav scheduling app, Later, released a blog on 2024 hashtag strategy to suggest 5 things when building your SEO/Hashtag strategy

    • Industry based hashtags and verbiage:  #weddingplanner #cosmeticdentist #realestateexpert The more niche the better!

    • Descriptive based hashtags:  #dancewear #lashtools #candle

    • Branded hashtags: #smilesbytejas #lacedhair

    • Location based words or hashtags: Your niche or product paired with location. #atxtans #austintanning #dallasdentist #atxphotographer

    • Community hashtags: This could be an event, hobby or community #teamwatters  #austinmoms

  • Liking stories: Not just for the go boost on your friend’s hot selfie…this is actually a great way to maintain outbound engagement and bring your profile to the attention of other users and accounts!

  • Storytelling: We’ve been on this wave for a while now, especially pushing our clients to be comfortable and get personal in front of the camera! This especially works well with emotion provoking content, for example with our clients, smile reveals, wrinkle care, youthful revitalization, weight loss etc.

  • DMs: They’re an option for a reason! If you aren’t pushing your followers towards your dms, you should be! Not only is this a quick way to answer questions and give out more information, it also helps your followers get acquainted with your style and allow them to begin to form a loyalty or trust with you.

    2024 OUTS:

    • Vanity metrics: Follower count does NOT determine social media success! These numbers are quite the facade when it comes to social media, and instead of growing your count, you should focus on creating a community of loyal, engaged users. The best numbers for you to track are reach, shares, saves and comments.

    • Not commenting: This is something we’ve noticed recently especially with influencers. When we see brands or influencers with loads of comments that aren’t replied to or even liked, they are missing the entire point of marketing on social media! Another nod to this is the over reliance of auto reply, people can recognize a bot!! Take a second to really make sure you are making that second touch and second connection to lock in that engaged follower, patient or client.

    • Relying on employees to handle your socials: Social media management is a FULL TIME JOB! It really is an extension of your website, your brand and your message. To benefit from social you should consider outsourcing or hiring someone specific to really hone in on your brand and ensure adequate time and energy is spent.

    • Posting without a strategy: need we say more? Check out a few of our previous blog posts to learn more about crafting, and FOLLOWING your social strategy!

Well that’s all for today! We hope you take our recommendations into this new year with a ready spirit, excited to grow your business and smash your social goals!

    Until next time,

    Xo, TJ
